What a perfect wedding looks like

Did I grab your attention? Admit it, you’ve been scouring the internet for advice on how to throw the best celebration for your upcoming wedding. You want to know what you must do, and what you must avoid. Good! Keep reading that advice. It will be helpful! In the same breath, make sure not to overwhelm yourself with all the do’s and don’ts. You want to know the secret to having a perfect wedding?

Teamwork. That’s the secret sauce. You want to know how to get your wedding into a magazine, onto a blog, or just featured on your vendor’s IG? It’s by getting as much help as you can. Sorry to say, the DIY wedding isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. And it’s hardly ever really “do it yourself”.

If you want to have a “perfect” wedding, you need to be prepared to ask for help. As a wedding vendor, I am so lucky to be involved in a community filled with so many talented and hard working creative women, all joining together on a mission to give you a memorable and beautiful day.

When you're looking at the timeline, at the guest list, and all the things you still have to do, it's easy to assume things might not pull together like you had hoped. However, by hiring the right team of professionals, and by lending your trust that we can make your vision come true, the idea of a dream wedding will become a reality. Here are some requirements you should keep in mind when hiring your dream team:

  • Your vendors MUST MUST MUST align with your vision and aesthetic. If you both have differing ideas of how your wedding should look, you are not a good fit. That said, both of you need to be open to new ideas and suggestions from each other. Remember, you are a team.

  • Do they have your best interest in mind? Listen to how they talk about your wedding. If they aren’t connecting with you or your ideas, you aren’t a good fit.

  • Can you stretch your budget? It’s a hard pill to swallow, but sometimes your perfect vendors are a stretch out of your budget. Be prepared for this and think of how you can adjust your budget otherwise to make these matches happen.

  • If you’re considering skipping a Wedding Planner or Coordinator, don’t. Like I said, you need to accept all the help you can get. Their purpose is to take away the stress and responsibility you feel obligated to. They are a necessary investment! Not to mention, when you take away your responsibility to throw a party, you spend more time getting to actually enjoy it. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like the scenario of a “perfect wedding”.

Okay, so now you know some of the big points to keep in mind. Now where do you start? My suggestion is to begin on Instagram! Search local hashtags to find some really talented vendors. Next, ask for recommendations. You can join Facebook groups for wedding referrals or simply ask your currently booked vendors.

Great, so you found your vendors. Next is the consultation! Time to check off some of those points above. Do they match your vision and aesthetic? Do they have your best interest in mind? How well do you connect with them as a person, not just a wedding vendor?

You are well on your way to having a perfect wedding, babe! You know what they say, teamwork is dreamwork.
